Each character is given three injury slots (minor, moderate and severe.) Each injury slot, when filled, will give characters different negative effects. These effects will persist until they are resolved in two different ways: either by posting a thread or by using a First-Aid Kit or Trauma Bag from the site shop. Only severe injuries/illnesses require a thread with a healer. Minor/moderate injuries/illnesses only require a thread where the injury or illness is acknowledged in some way. Threads do not have to be completed to count, since some threads may take weeks to complete.
 
Each slot can only be filled by one injury. If you receive an injury in the same slot, the injury will progress into a more serious injury. Example: If you receive a minor injury (broken paw) and you receive an additional minor injury while still under the effect, the injury will progress into a moderate injury (open foot fracture.)
 
If injuries go untreated, your character may be susceptible to more serious injuries, including deadly ones.

Dice rolls and tables are the core component of combat.
 
In combat, one player (or NPC) will roll a 1D6 and add an appropriate stat modifier. This will be their attack roll which will determine the injury they're inflicting on their opponent. The other player (or NPC) will have an opportunity to roll against it with a 1D6 and add an appropriate stat modifier. This will be their defense roll and it will negate the attack roll, reducing or removing the inflicted injury.
 
For example, if your character is in combat with an Entity, the Entity could roll a 6 + 6 Daring attack roll for a total of 12. According to the below table, this qualifies as a moderate injury. You roll a 5 + 2 Grace defense roll for a total of 7. This will reduce the attack roll of 12 to a 5, which takes the moderate injury down to a minor injury.
