RiverClan is a group of cats who live primarily in the peat bogs and swamps. Their first leader was Shrikestar, who was originally one of ShadowClan's leaders. Due to recent events, they have recently taken in a number of ShadowClan refugees.

Basic Description

RiverClan cats are long-limbed and wiry cats who most often have neutral and muddy coat colors. They’re known to value tenacity, individuality, and assertiveness — but are also seen as stubborn, aggressive, and bloodthirsty.

Following the split from ShadowClan, RiverClan invited European wildcats to live among them, and eventually began an expansionist campaign that ended when they overtook WindClan completely. RiverClan is the only Clan with matrilineal succession. RiverClan leaders only hold a single life, as ThunderClan refuses to allow them access to the Crypt of Stars. Their territory includes the Circle of Claws, the traditional Gathering place.

Territory

RiverClan Camp - RiverClan's camp is an old, decaying church standing in the heart of the bog.
River - a shallow, sluggish river that cuts through RiverClan's territory
Heather Fields - high and (relatively) dry heather fields on the western side of RiverClan territory
Flooded Footpaths - a series of twoleg trails cutting across the bog. Flooded for most of the year.
Bog Graveyard - a mire hosting the skeletal remains of unfortunate animals
Peat Hags - RiverClan's traditional burial ground
Old Cottage - a twoleg cottage in the south of RiverClan's territory

Outskirts

Circle Of Claws - a circle of standing stones; the former location for inter-clan Gatherings
Vanishing Lake - a lake to the southwest with an unpredictable and highly variable water level
Ancient Trail - a well-trodden path between RiverClan and ShadowClan territories

Gathering Spot

195 moons ago, RiverClan takes over the Gathering spot. Laurelfur returns to ShadowClan, leaving Boulderflower behind. RiverClan launches an expansion campaign, cobbling together pieces of the other Clans' territory.

Raid On WindClan

184 moons ago, RiverClan raids WindClan's camp, killing the weak and stealing their young. Any WindClan cat alive flees with Molestar. The youngest kits are renamed and integrated into the Clan without their knowing.
